Dr. Bhibha Das

Dr. Bhibha M. Das is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology. Dr. Das teaches courses in the Department of Kinesiology focusing on physical activity promotion across the lifespan and previously served as a Senior Fellow in Honors College where she team taught a year-long first-year student seminar using Human-Centered Design to solve wicked problems.
Prior to joining academia, she spent four years working with communities, including underserved and rural ones to develop, implement, and evaluate physical activity promotion programs and policies. Part of Dr. Das’s transition from practitioner to researcher was to bridge the gap between practice and research. Her research agenda primarily focuses on physical activity as the cornerstone for health-related changes with a focus on 1) Physical activity and health promotion in communities. 2) Physical activity interventions, and 3) Physical activity and public health evaluation.
During her time at ECU, Bhibha has been awarded the College of Health and Human Performance’s Teacher-Scholar Award, Greenville-Pitt County Senior Games Pioneer Spirit Award, Honors College Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award, and University Centennial Award for Excellence in Ambition. Dr. Das is also a Fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine and has served on the Executive Board for the Southeast American College of Sports Medicine.
In her free time, Bhibha enjoys being physically active, reading, trivia, and spending time with family and friends.
