Simran Takhar

Simran Takhar is a junior in the Honors College majoring in neuroscience, psychology, and biology on the pre-medical track. She spent a summer in Seoul, South Korea studying psychology and Korean culture. On campus, she conducts neurological physiology research at the Brody School of Medicine and studies health disparities affecting South Asian women through the DESI study in the Department of Kinesiology. 

Simran serves as secretary, advisor, and co-choreographer of ECU Khazana, a competitive Bollywood fusion dance team, and was a performing arts maker in the Honors College Makers Residency, where she performed original works centered around culture and identity. She also works as a medical assistant and volunteers with Farm2Clinic’s Fresh Start Initiative and the Pitt County Care Clinic, with the goal of supporting uninsured residents of eastern North Carolina.  

In her free time, she enjoys staying active, traveling, and trying new experiences with friends. As an ambassador, Simran is excited to show prospective students the Honors College culture and its impact on the overall college experience. Contact Simran at takhars24@students.ecu.edu
