#ECUHonors Student Advocacy for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Briana Waters checks in from a spring break spent advocating for public health issues in the capital.
“I hope you all had a wonderful spring break! Myself, Rachel Burke, Alex Roach, and Morgan Blanchard all had a wonderful time in D.C. We were able to meet with the offices of Richard Burr, David Rouzer, and David Price to advocate for PCOS awareness in research. We also made vital connects with PCOS Challenge and we are looking forward to working closely with them in the future. Though we were cold, we loved being able to explore D.C. and visit places such as the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of AMerican History and The Library of Congress. We would have loved to see more, however, we were so grateful to be able to attend PCOS Advocacy day and spend our day in the Capital Building(s). The meetings were all successful and we are hopeful that once the bill is introduced to congress, out state legislators will look into signing it. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to represent ECU and the Honors College on such a grand national stage. We are confident that we did the Honors College justice and showed the individuals attending the event that we had worked very hard on our project and that we were invested.”
