A Global Ambassador: the American College Experience

Prior to his study abroad experience in Japan, EC Scholar Jiahao (Jay) Li was recently to the Shanxi University of Science and Technology in China by the Dean of Engineering to give a two-hour long lecture on the American college experience and his research at ECU.

“I was fortunate to have so many students show up,” Jay reflected. “It was a fun learning opportunity and a great experience. Thank you to Dr. Yao for setting [the event] up… I hope we can keep this contact at ECU.”

EC Scholars benefit from a curriculum that emphasizes community engagement, leadership and rigorous academic coursework–one of the core tenets of the experience is a global education in an increasingly interconnected world. EC Scholars complete at least one study abroad experience worth at least 3 credit hours prior to graduation. Each experience is unique and special; scholars are encouraged to find time to talk to peers such as Jay about their study abroad experiences.
