2020 Cultural Vistas Fellowship

We are pleased to announce that the Cultural Vistas Fellowship, a fully funded professional development program, is now accepting applications for summer 2020! The Cultural Vistas Fellowship is an 8-week summer internship program that gives undergraduate students who have not yet participated in a formal study or internship abroad the opportunity to gain practical work experience abroad. We will be sending three cohorts of fellows next summer to Buenos Aires, Berlin, or another English-speaking country. The Cultural Vistas Fellowship is open to students of all fields who can demonstrate their interest in or commitment to advancing their career goals, developing global competencies, and experiencing life in another culture.

One cohort of four to five fellows will travel to each destination. The program will take place in five phases:

  • Virtual learning component to discuss intercultural communication and contemporary issues in civic engagement and youth involvement.
  • Pre-departure orientation in NYC for fellows to share learning goals and prepare for their internships.
  • Eight-week internships in Buenos Aires, Berlin, or an English-speaking country.
  • Re-entry seminar in NYC, bringing fellows together to reflect on their experiences.
  • Post-program “Fellows in Service” project to be completed on fellows’ campuses or in local communities.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, aged 18 – 30, and enrolled full-time at a four-year accredited U.S. college or university with sophomore or junior academic status. Students wishing to intern in Argentina must have native Spanish-speaking abilities. Students interested in Germany are encouraged to have taken at least two university-level courses. The application deadline for summer 2020 is November 15, 2019. To learn more about the Cultural Vistas Fellowship, please visitwww.culturalvistas.org/cvfellowship.

We will be hosting an informational webinar Monday, September 23 at 3:00 EST. A link to the virtual meeting will be posted on the program homepage. Please share this opportunity with your students!
