Audition for Honors Project on implementing ASL into theatre

Hello Honors College!

My name is Brooke Palmer, and I am a senior currently working on my honors project about implementing American Sign Language into theatre, and I could use your help. I wrote a show called “The Magic of Winter from Around the World”; it’s an adaptation of winter-themed fairytales from different corners of the globe. The best part: the show will be in both English and Sign Language!

I am looking for actors to be in this production. Do not worry! You do not need to be fluent in Sign Language to be a part of the show, learning the signs will be part of the rehearsal process. All I ask is you have an interest in theatre and a willing heart and mind to learn! Auditions for the show are this Monday, September 16th from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm in Messick Theatre Arts Center in room 201. If you or anyone you know at ECU is interested in auditioning, please do the following:

1) Please sign up for an audition time at the following link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LoWIJUuK-ilglNN_ZqG7HbvxB-zX0H_wuzQu5_nmtSQ/edit?usp=sharing

2) Please pick a side (a part of the script) to read for the audition. You do not need to be memorized, but it would be helpful to be familiar with the material. As you can see, there are multiple characters in the scene, so you can audition with a friend or two if you’d like!

If the audition time doesn’t work for you, please let me know and we can work something out. Thank you all so much for reading, and if you have any questions feel free to email me at palmerb16@students.ecu.edu. I hope to see some of you Monday!
