Uptown Tree Inventory -- Volunteers Needed!

Below is a message from EC Scholar & Honors College 2020 student Madeline Tripp.

Calling all tree huggers, environmentalists, GIS nerds, or just people who want to make a difference– Uptown Greenville is completing an inventory and map of all of the trees in downtown, to prepare a plan to improve the urban tree canopy!

We need volunteers to help us collect the data. They don’t need any experience with arboriculture or GPS, since they will be assisting our consulting arborist, John (who has extensive experiences in tree ID and using GPS). Volunteers will be trained to help collect data on the trees and enter that data into a Trimble GPS unit.

The collection will be Monday October 14th- Thursday the 17th, and we’ll need volunteers for 3 hour slots (9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm). People can sign up at this link: Tree Inventory Volunteer Signup.

This is a great chance to get volunteer hours, get experience GPS data collection and tree identification, and help make Greenville greener!
