The United Arab Emirates Field Studies in Art and Design and Honors Seminar in Fine Arts is a semester long 3 credit course offered Spring 2020 to include seminars, web-based lectures from artists, curators and professor in the Middle East, collaborative studio projects virtually and actually with students at partnering institutions in the UAE and a dissemination event that includes a project specific to the studio / seminar experience to conclude the semester.

As a major component of the United Arab Emirates Field Studies in Art and Design and Honors Seminar in Fine Arts, an eleven (11) day interdisciplinary educational trip to the United Arab Emirates will engage students with in-depth studies and related activities at partnered institutions, museums, galleries and sites in the UAE in cities including Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi and potentially additional site visits to Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah to round out an experience to include all seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Arab_Emirates

With more than 100 new galleries and museums, new theatre programs, foundations to support music, an emerging industry that includes all aspects of visual communications, art and design, there are numerous opportunities to explore, study, investigate and disseminate. We will explore opportunities and collaborations with partners in the United Arab Emirates to foster student growth rooted in cultural and social diversity.
