National Service-based STEM-CORPS East Internships & Scholarships

The STEM – Corps East program is an AmeriCorps program focused on providing math and science tutoring and STEM enrichment activities focused on increasing education support for student/youth interest and achievement in math and science classes.  This university, school, community partnership provides a service opportunity, address a serious need in our communities and provides students/members with monetary support and scholarship.

We are currently seeking over 20 opportunities for students to serve in a Spring/Summer Service based internship type position and provide STEM national service for several community partners. Our community partners include:

  • Aurora Fossil Museum
  • Police Athletic League (PAL)
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain
  • A Time for Science
  • Inner Banks STEM Center

Students will also receive scholarship support upon completion of their service term. This scholarship can be used anywhere and stays with the students for 7 years. It’s a great way to serve and earn money for school, study abroad, or graduate school.

Students who participate in our program will have the opportunity to build their resume, network with STEM professionals, and make a difference in Eastern North Carolina.  Please feel free to share our information below and let us know if we can speak to any of your classes, career fairs, or other groups. You can contact Nicole Shuck directly at shuckn@ecu.edu or stemcorpseast@ecu.edu
