Musical Empowerment Interest Meeting
Hello fellow Honors College students!
My name is Elizabeth Chan and I am the Co-President of Musical Empowerment at ECU. Musical Empowerment is a nonprofit organization with the mission to provide free, one-on-one music lessons to children in underserved communities based on a shared love of music and learning that builds a foundation of confidence, creativity, and self-discipline to create successful individuals. Musical Empowerment focuses on mentorship and allows collegiate students to become mentors to local elementary and middle school students. We also provide free instruments and materials through our Instrument Lending Program! Through our seven chapters, we serve over 300 children and provided over 8,000 hours of lessons in 2020!
We are looking for mentors to join our Musical Empowerment community and provide virtual or in-person one-on-one music lessons. Teachers will be paired with a student in the Greenville community based on instrument preference and availability. If you are interested, please fill out this form so we can send you more information. We will also have an interest meeting on Friday, September 3rd at 3 pm in the conference room in Mamie Jenkins as well as on Sunday, September 12th (time and location TBD).
You can also visit our website and follow us on Instagram @me.ecu for more information. Please let me know if you are interested!
