Minges Bottling Group to award $2500 in LifeWTR “Art through the Eyes of a PirateTM”
Design Competition at ECU®

This fall, ECU students are invited to create a unique design like those used on LifeWTR bottles. The winner will receive $2500 and exposure of their art on campus later this spring. “Art through the Eyes of a Pirate” is a design challenge that involves incorporating the vision of one or more of the ECU Core Values: Integrity, Respect, and Inclusion into a creative design.

The contest is open only to currently enrolled ECU students for Fall 2021, and entrants do not need to be art and design majors. The chosen ECU student winner will have his or her design displayed around campus and receive $2500 from the Minges Bottling Group.

“Minges Bottling Group and Pepsi are excited to partner with East Carolina University on this project,” said Landon Minges, vice president of operations and ECU alumnus.  “The LifeWTR brand celebrates unseen artists, and we cannot wait to discover the creativity and talent that lies within the ECU student body, as well as showcase and recognize them for their artwork,” he said.

The artwork must follow a template provided by the company, along with several other design requirements. Official contest rules and template and can be found at https:/go.ecu.edu/LifeWTR. Entries must be submitted by November 1, 2021.

Select pieces will be displayed in the Student Center Art Gallery in December, and the winning entry will be used in a variety of ways around campus.

The competition is coordinated by a committee at ECU including members of University Marketing, School of Art and Design, Student Affairs, Campus Recreation and Wellness, Campus Dining, Aramark, SGA, and Minges Bottling Group.
