Volunteer Opportunity: Camp Carefree Counselors
Camp Carefree in Stokesdale, NC is a summer camp for kids who have or are within families who have chronic illnesses that provides them with free, week-long overnight camps. They are seeking volunteers for their summer programs and wanted to share this with students seeking opportunities prior to entering health profession schools.
Throughout the years, many of the counselors have gone on to enjoy successful careers in medical professions, such as becoming doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech pathologists, among others. The camp sessions focus around varying illnesses, which allows opportunities to learn about conditions such as spina bifida, hemophilia, and neurological disorders while gaining hands on experience learning about children’s abilities and challenges with these disorders.
Below is a calendar and a link to the volunteer page on their website, which has a downloadable PDF application. For more information or questions, contact directors@campcarefree.org.
