ECU alumna Raleigh receives Phi Kappa Phi graduate fellowship

Recent ECU graduate Shaelyn Raleigh received a Phi Kappa Phi graduate fellowship.

Recent East Carolina University Honors College and EC Scholar graduate Shaelyn Raleigh has been awarded an $8,500 Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship.

“I am honored to receive this fellowship from Phi Kappa Phi because it not only means that people believe in my potential for success as a graduate student and professional, but it also allows me to represent ECU at a national level,” Raleigh said.

She plans to use the fellowship money to pursue her RELAY Graduate School of Education certification program to receive her teaching license in middle school science. Raleigh graduated from ECU with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. Currently, she is teaching in Nashville as part of the Teach for America program.

Raleigh is one of 62 recipients nationwide to receive a Phi Kappa Phi fellowship. The program allocates $649,000 for students pursuing graduate degrees. To be selected, applicants must showcase graduate potential, undergraduate academic achievement, service and leadership experience, letters of recommendation, personal statement of educational perspective and career goals, and acceptance in an approved graduate or professional program.
