Behavioral Health Group Available
The ECU Psychological Assessment and Specialty Services (PASS) Clinic is offering a DBT skills group for young adults this semester. This group will offer skills, including mindfulness skills, to help ECU students and other adults with emotional disorders to live a more centered life. This group is generally seen as a supplement to ongoing counseling or therapy for persons with an emotional disorder, such as depression or anxiety, but the skills discussed are generic and would be helpful to most of us. The group will meet in the ECU PASS Clinic on Wednesdays at 3:30 pm, beginning September 7th. The group is free of cost to ECU students and has a nominal fee based on a sliding scale for other adults. Interested individuals will need to schedule a time to meet at the PASS Clinic for a brief (30 minute) prescreening appointment before the group begins to ensure that the DBT Skills Group will be a good fit for their needs; prospective participants will be asked to commit to completing the group (10 weeks). If interested, please reach out to the PASS Clinic at 252-737-4180.
The PASS Clinic is associated with the ECU Doctoral Health Psychology Program (https://psychology.ecu.edu/pass/) and provides low-cost behavioral health care services to ECU faculty and staff as well as the broader Greenville community. Services are provided by doctoral students under the supervision of licensed psychologists. The supervisor of the DBT skills group is Dr. Debbie Thurneck, who is a licensed psychologist and the Director of the PASS Clinic.
