FEEd Lab Volunteer Recruitment

This year with the support of the FEEd Lab and NC State’s Farm2ECE Initiative, Honors student Aaditi Kulkarni is leading a research study that will examine incorporating a gardening initiative into the PEAS program. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in serving in one or more roles.

Role 1: Individuals interested in engaging with data collection. We will use methods including height, weight, and Veggie Meter assessments.

Role 2: Individuals interested in supporting gardening activities with Head Start teachers and children.

Activities will begin January 2023 in our Ayden (262 3rd Street) and Farmville (4280 Anderson Ave) Head Start centers.

All volunteers will need to complete Head Starts required volunteer forms. These will be provided at the training session.

Those engaging in research will need to complete research training (e.g., CITI and GCP), in order to be cleared to engage in research. If you have conducted/ assisted in collecting research within the past year, your research training should still be applicable. Just make sure your CITI training has not expired (it lasts for 3 years).

We will also hold a training this month specific to collecting height, weight, and Veggie Meter data, and assisting with the gardening activities. Details coming soon!

We hope you are interested in working with the FEEd Lab team! To sign-up, please fill out this interest form by Wednesday, September 14th.
