This past summer, Javier Limon had the privilege of interning for the United States Senate.

“When I first arrived in D.C. I didn’t know anyone, and I barely knew the city from a few previous visits,” said Limon, a junior political science and public health major. “This taught me to get out of my comfort zone and jump at opportunities even if they may seem scary at first.”

As an intern, Javier got to explore a large variety of tasks. He helped with administrative tasks such as answering voicemails, letters, and phone calls from constituents. But one of his favorite aspects of this internship was that every day he got to experience something new. “I could go from meeting a Senator, touring the White House, drafting official constituent letters, putting together policy memos, and leading tours all in the span of a few days.”

When it comes to getting this internship, his advice for other students would be to find alumni and other students that have gone through similar experiences and ask them questions! He said, “They are always happy to help!”
