Volunteers Needed for Science Olympiad

ach year, ECU’s Center for STEM Education hosts hundreds of students on ECU’s campus for Science Olympiad. Science Olympiad is a K-12 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics competition that elevates science education to the level of support and enthusiasm typically reserved for school sports.

The Center is currently in need of close to 150 volunteers for the competition on February 18, 2023 in order for this tournament to be a success!

Volunteers, when they fill out the google form to volunteer, can indicate what role they would like to have the day of. Most volunteers will be assisting an event leader in running an event and they can indicate what type of event they’d like to do (biology/environmental science, chemistry/physics, or engineering/building). We do have some volunteers that would be assisting with things like scoring completed tests or helping with the snack room.

This year, we’re asking volunteers to stay for the entire time as the schedule is more compact! The majority of volunteers would be asked to arrive sometime between 8:00 and 8:30 AM and would likely be able to leave between 1:00 and 1:30 PM. However, there is a much shorter option where they can volunteer from 2:30 to 4:00 PM to assist with handing out medals at the afternoon awards ceremony.

Events take place on ECU’s campus in various buildings, like the Student Center, SciTech, Bate, etc.
