2023 Summer Biomedical Research Program accepting applications
2023 SUMMER BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH PROGRAM (SRBP)
Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University
Program Dates: May 30st – July 28th, 2023
Program Description:
The SBRP is a research intensive program that provides the foundational skills needed to succeed as a graduate or professional student. The program consists of ten weeks of laboratory experience at the Brody School of Medicine, one of its affiliated Institutes, or one of the basic science departments on the main campus of East Carolina University. The program includes all the necessary laboratory specific biological and chemical safety training modules required for each participant, which may include an animal handling and a blood borne pathogen training. The career development portion of the curriculum incorporates a health/science career symposium and a series of seminars and workshops preparing the applicants to apply to graduate or professional school. Finally, the participants will present their research at the Poster Session at the conclusion of the program.
Each participant will receive a living expenses stipend of $3,400 (before taxes: you will be taxed on the full cost of the program) and will be offered housing on the main campus of ECU.
Prerequisites:
Students must have received a passing grade in college level General Biology, General Chemistry, Algebra and English Composition (or comparable courses) to participate in the SBRP.
Who is eligible to apply:
All undergraduates from any accredited institution whether at the community college or 4-year college level are eligible to apply for this program. Questions regarding the SBRP may be directed to: Dr. Sriramula at Brody_SBRP@ecu.edu
Application Submission:
Applications are available on the SBRP web site at https://medicine.ecu.edu/sbrp/ and must be submitted by March 3rd, 5:00 PM. The completed application packet includes the application, two letters of recommendation, college transcript(s), and immunization record. Notification of admission to the program will be sent to applicants between April 3rd and April 14t
