NC AHEC Scholars applications due May 15

Eastern Area Heath Education Center is now accepting applications by May 15 for the 2023-2025 cohort of the North Carolina AHEC Scholars Program. Please feel free to share this email with your students who meet the listed qualifications.

The Eastern AHEC Scholars Program recruits, trains, and supports a diverse group of students enrolled in health professions programs across our 23-county service area in North Carolina. Together these students create an interdisciplinary team of health professionals devoted to the transformation of health care in North Carolina. With an emphasis on underrepresented minorities, rural, and first-generation college students, the Eastern AHEC Scholars Program aims to improve the diversity and distribution of all health professions. Scholars will have the opportunity to network with students and faculty from academic institutions throughout the region and state. This program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students as long as they can commit to the full two years. Students must be enrolled in a health professions program during the duration of the program and graduate in 2025.

  • Two-year program (September-May each year)
  • 40 didactic hours and 40 clinical hours for a total of 80 hours per year
  • Potential to earn $1,000 stipend per year ($2,000 total)
