Aydan Lawler, Makers curator

Aydan Lawler is the curator of our Makers Honors Arts Residency program, a year-long paid residency giving Honors students from all majors the chance to make artwork and act as arts ambassadors. 🎨

“I decided to take on the role of Makers curator because the position allows me to be directly involved in nurturing the Honors College’s artistic future. I am incredibly proud of the fact that ECU’s Honors College values their artistically-inclined students whereas most honors colleges are heavily focused on STEM only. Being the curator allows me to work towards ensuring that the arts continue to flourish here at ECU.”

The Honors College is proud to announce our three Makers for the 2023-24 year: Kathryn Kaoud, Kaeleigh Kruger and Majoie Ngandi.

Kathryn Kaoud, a first year biology major, is working with colored pencils as her medium. “I am excited to be an Honors Art Maker because I get the opportunity to make visual artwork and act as an Honors College Art Ambassador!”

Kaeleigh Kruger, a second year music major, will sing, play guitar and perform original songs. “I have enjoyed spending time making music outside of the classroom since I began Makers and am excited to grow as an artist this year.”

Majoie Ngandi, a second year software engineering major, is working within the photography medium. “My project, titled ‘Pixels in views’ permits me to share my photography and connect with fellow artists, fostering creativity and collaboration while experiencing the power of AI.”
