Victory Junction Spring & Summer 2024 Opportunities

Victory Junction is actively hiring for 2024 programs! We have opportunities available in the spring & summer to volunteer, as well as paid summer staff positions in areas like Adventure, Lifeguards, Sports & Rec, Theater, and Cabin Counselors. These opportunities are great for students from all majors to gain experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities, gaining 21st Century Skills to add to their resume, obtain college credit, volunteer hours, or internships, and so much more!

The programs we have coming up & are actively hiring for are:

This SPRING, we will be hosting 6 family weekends! Up to 32 families will come for a weekend of rest, relaxation, & family fun! Families will live in a cabin & get to experience camp activities, meals, and stage night together. Volunteers live separately from families & act as a guide to the family or help run program areas. All family weekends will run Friday – Sunday.

This SUMMER, we will be hosting our traditional overnight camp programs! This summer will give us an opportunity to serve a limited number of campers (ages 6-16) onsite, without their families. All counselors and volunteers live in cabins with their fellow co-counselors and campers for all sessions. We will be hosting 9 sessions of traditional overnight camp, which will run from Saturday – Thursday for volunteers each session (Except for week 4 which will run from Saturday – Wednesday). For summer 2024, we are looking to fill 90 paid summer staff positions & 40 volunteers for each week.

Summer Paid Positions:

Cabin Counselors will serve as the primary role model for four campers on a weekly basis during traditional summer camp programming. In this role, you will assist campers with activities of daily living, provide support and encouragement at program areas, and ensure the health and safety of our campers.

Program Counselors specialize in a specific program area providing intentional programming to our campers. They plan and facilitate safe activities that are catered to the specific needs of our campers each session. When not facilitating the activity in the program area, program counselors will transition back to the cabin and provide support to campers.

Program Positions

  • Adventure
  • Barn (Horseback Riding & Animal Adventure)
  • Bowling/Adam’s Race Shop
  • Creative Arts (Arts & Crafts, Woodshop, and Art Lab)
  • Lifeguard (Boating & Fishing/Waterpark)
  • Sports & Recreation
  • Theater and Fab Shop

Spring Volunteer Positions:

Family Pals are paired with a family and serve as their guide throughout the weekend. That means welcoming your family to camp, escorting them throughout their camp experience and enjoying the joys of camp with all members of the family. Your role is particularly important because as the initial face of Victory Junction and the family’s constant representation, you have a major part in the feel of camp and the community that is established. In short, laugh, play, and care for your campers! Families will live on cabin row and volunteers in program or medical lodges.

Program Pals provide programming which gives our campers the opportunity to try new things and push beyond their comfort zone. Volunteers in this role are assigned to oversee a program area such as Arts & Crafts, Woodshop, Archery, Boating, Fishing, Adam’s Race Shop or the Fab Shop. As a Program Pal, you will join a family when your program area is closed so you can continue to experience the magic of camp.

Dining Hall Pals assist the Kitchen Manager/Chef with various duties, which include setting up and cleaning up after each meal.

Stable Pals assist as needed in the stables. This includes leading campers on horses around our arena, participating in animal adventure, grooming, cleaning stalls and general stable duties.

Summer Volunteer Positions:

Cabin Volunteers will take care of the daily needs of campers, working & staying alongside our paid summer staff. This position requires being actively involved in the supervision, guidance, and motivation of campers by building working relationships with the children and staff to ensure that a high standard of care is maintained. This is a life-changing and rewarding experience. Cabin Counselors are expected to sing, dance and be silly – we play like kids!

Program Volunteers will help ensure that specific program areas are ready for campers as they come and go throughout the day. Program volunteers will live in cabins alongside our cabin volunteers & paid summer staff and be in their assigned areas when open. The areas available are in our Barn (Stable Pal) and Fuel Stop (Dining Hall Pal), reporting to the directors of those areas, respectively.
