Marketing & Culture Study Abroad in Germany - Summer 2025

Join Professors Ashley & Newell this summer for an 11-day Business & Marketing Study Abroad trip to Germany!

Even though the focus is marketing, the courses offered can be used towards any business major or minor.  The 11-day trip focuses on global marketing and the culture of Germany.  You kick off the trip in Munich with visits to Adidas and BMW as well as tours of historical sites. From there, you’ll travel through Nuremberg and Dresden, stopping at the Volkswagen plant before arriving in Berlin, where you’ll immerse yourself in the city’s culture and explore the Berlin Wall.  This study abroad trip will give you first-hand experiences of the topics covered in class.  You’ll get to ask questions of industry experts who make the marketing decisions for their companies.  You’ll get to see and feel the cultural differences as you are immersed in a new country.

The courses offered as part of this study abroad will be 11-week online courses.  You’ll get the summer semester started right away when you meet up at the airport on May 19 for the trip to Germany.  You will have some instruction while in Germany, but the majority of the coursework will be done after your return.

Courses offered:

  • MKTG 3832 Marketing Management, 3 credits, Dana Newell
  • MKTG 3852 Cultural Environment of International Business, 3 credits, Robin Ashley
  • MKTG 4972 Topics in Marketing, 3 credits, Ashley & Newell

Travel dates are May 19 – 29.  The program price of $6,550 includes airfare, hotels, activities, transportation, all breakfasts, and tuition for 6 credits (2 classes).  Talk to your advisor to make sure two of the classes listed above work with your overall academic plan.

Information Meetings: Study Abroad 101 – If you have questions or are on the fence about whether or not you should participate, go to one of the weekly information sessions. These are led by Global Ambassadors who have already studied abroad and are eager to get other students excited about studying abroad. These sessions cover all the basics and help students get their questions answered by their peers. They are every week of the semester (not during exams or when the university is closed) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 4 pm in the International House.
