Honors College Mentor Applications Due April 4th
My name is Whitley McCoy, and I am the Lead Mentor for the CREWS Mentors. Developing a mentorship program was a part of my SHP, and I am so excited to share that we will have a new program introduced this fall for our incoming freshman!
Upperclassmen will serve as a mentor to incoming freshmen. Throughout the year, they will build meaningful connections that will hopefully carry through the remainder of their time. They will help with the transition to college, building community, and engaging across campus. Our hope is that these will develop into valuable connections with the under and upperclassmen peers.
There will be a Meet Your Mentor event hosted during the first few days freshmen are on campus in August before the semester begins. This is a required event if you are selected as a mentor. Mentors & mentees will have the opportunity to meet and select their best match.
Responsibilities:
- Connect with 5-8 mentees
- Weekly or biweekly check ins (through text or in person)
- Encourage engagement within the Honors College and on campus
- Help to transition them into college
Requirements to Apply:
- Good academic standing with the Honors College
- Full time undergraduate student
- Will have completed 2 semesters by fall 2025
If you are interested, fill out the Mentors Application Qualtrics.
Applications are due by April 4th at 11:59 pm. Please note that we may ask applicants to come in for in-person interviews to learn more about you & your interest in the role. We will be sending out official invitations to be a mentor by April 18th.
