2026 AEI Winter Honors Program – Apps due Nov. 2
The 2026 Winter Honors Program is a seminar series that will bring together top undergraduate students from all over the country to discuss the American Founding in honor of its 250th anniversary. If accepted, students will be placed in one of four classes that will examine the significant influences of the Founding, including the foundations of American legal thought, the influence of religious movements and ideas, the writings of John Locke, and the legacy of Greek and Roman thinkers. Applicants are asked to rank each class in the order of desirability. Much like the Summer Honor’s Program, AEI’s Academic Programs team hopes to create an environment of vibrant and engaging discussion between scholars and students.
The four classes/seminars offered are:
- Adam White: “Law and Liberty: Courts, Judges, and the American Founding”
- Gary Schmitt: “Reason and Revolution: The Founding and the American Mind”
- Joshua Katz: “From Athens to America: Classical Roots of the Founding”
- Thomas Kidd: “Faith and Freedom: Religion’s Role in the American Founding”
The program will take place in Charleston, South Carolina, Wednesday-Saturday, January 7-10, 2026. The deadline to apply is November 2, 2025.
