Frederick Douglass-Daniel O'Connell Global Internship Apps Due Jan 9

The Frederick Douglass-Daniel O’Connell Global Internship is a fully-funded summer study abroad program for student leaders. The 10th annual internship honors two iconic leaders in the global movement for freedom, equality and economic mobility. Ten outstanding students will be selected for a transformative 8-week, fully-funded internship in Dublin, Ireland to expand their understanding of Irish history and gain real-world experience.

From June 12 to August 9, 2026, Fellows will:

  • Explore the legacies of Frederick Douglass and Daniel O’Connell, two iconic change-makers
  • Learn Ireland’s pivotal role in global movements for freedom, equality and justice
  • Build life-long leadership skills and global connections at an Irish organization

Eligibility requirements:

  • Be a current undergraduate freshman, sophomore or junior from an accredited institution
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Be a US citizen, US national or permanent resident
  • Be Pell Grant-eligible
  • Submit a complete application no later than January 9, 2026

All eligible applicants not selected for the Fellowship will receive a $1,500 grant toward any CIEE summer or semester program through summer 2027.

Applications will be accepted until January 9, 2026. The 2026 cohort will be announced in late January.
