Ghana 2026: Exploring Ghana’s Cultural & Public Health Systems

  • Location: Ghana, Africa
  • Cost: $5,100 (includes lodging, all meals, in-country transportation, activity entry fees, 6-credit course tuition, and international insurance)
  • Application deadline: January 31, 2026

This immersive course (6 hr.) offers learners unique insight and exposure to public health status and systems in Ghana and throughout the world. While in Ghana, students will have the unique experience of learning about the Ghanaian health system as they travel across the country. In the pre-departure online course and assignments portfolio, students will develop a greater understanding of current global health issues and of the differences between the U.S. and Ghana health systems. Throughout the 16-day trip, students will also learn about and gain an understanding of the Ghanaian culture while visiting cultural sites including its traditional governance and palaces, historic castles and sites of slave trade, national parks, beaches, and traditional arts.

  • University of Ghana’s School of Public Health
  • Kakum National Park
  • Cape Coast’s Elmina Castle
