Waterfowl Conservation

ECU Research Division is assisting Sylvan Heights to host the 2018 Waterfowl Conservation Workshop at the EC Heart Institute on Thursday & Friday, Oct. 25-26 where scheduled talks will take place (including by some of our grad students). Sylvan Heights staff, members of the Biology Department and others will be helping to run practical workshops on a variety of topics relating to husbandry, captive breeding, necropsy, specimen collection and preparation etc. at Sylvan Heights on Saturday the 27th.

This is a meeting of the International Wild Waterfowl Association, with participants coming from across the continent and from the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Brazil among other countries.  It will be an excellent opportunity to network for students interested in conservation biology and captive rearing programs.

We still have a handful of spots open to students courtesy of ECU. Participation includes meals (lunch/dinner). We are aware that some students may wish to register only for one or two days, working around their class schedules. If you are interested, please e-mail Dr. McRae immediately to reserve your spot (first come, first served), and indicate which day(s) you would like to attend. I will add your name to the list of ECU-sponsored students at the registration desk in the lobby where you will check-in on arrival.
Contact Dr. McRae immediately with the information above!
