Apply for MedServe! (PAID, $20K stipend)

My name is Breyah Atkinson, and I am one of the AmeriCorps VISTAs serving with MedServe. MedServe is responsible for a 2-year paid service program for recent graduates interested in a career in medicine, in partnership with North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (NC AHEC). MedServe is recruiting its fourth cohort of Fellows and we think your campus is an excellent place to do so. We are really interested in attracting students who are passionate about rural health and primary care.

MedServe has worked with North Carolina physician leaders to develop a program that places future physicians in clinics with “rock star” primary care physicians across rural and underserved communities in the state. As Fellows, students will work in both a clinical role (e.g. a medical assistant, medical scribe, medical interpreter) and community role (e.g. quality improvement projects, community health educator, health coach). It is a two-year program, modeled after Teach for America. We like to think about it as a Teach for America for medicine. Find more details and to check out our amazing clinics, visit: www.med-serve.org.

Some perks include:

$20,000 annual stipend

Education Award to be used towards past, current, and future education costs

Deferment of Loans with paid interest

2 years of clinical and community experience to fight against health disparities

We are looking for students who have recently graduated or will be graduating in May 2019. These students must have an interest in medicine, and are looking to gain invaluable clinical and community health experience. Could you please help us identify potential students who would benefit from this program?

Students can access our online application at http://www.med-serve.org/become-a-fellow.html. Applications are due February 15th! I’d be happy to chat further about the program via email (medservevista@gmail.com – with a subject line of ‘ATTN Breyah’). If you have any general questions, please email medservefellowship@gmail.com.

All the best,
