New summer programs, scholarships, and fellowships

Feb 4 – Rangel Summer Enrichment Program

Six-week international affairs summer program for historically underrepresented undergraduates. Students live at Howard University, attend classes, and participate in a variety of programs with foreign affairs professionals. Feb 5 – Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program

A two-year program for 1st- and 2nd-year students who are pursuing careers related to the environment. Doris Duke Scholars study conservation issues, participate in land, water, and wildlife conservation research, and intern with conservation projects at environmental non-profits, research universities, and government agencies nationwide. The DDCSP is administered by five universities: Northern Arizona University, University of California Santa Cruz, University of Florida, University of Michigan, and University of Washington.  With the exception of University of Florida, the program is open to students nationwide.

 

Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship

The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program is an opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion at the U.S. Department of Defense. Includes full tuition and a stipend of $25K – $38K, and other benefits. Undergraduate applicants must be currently enrolled in a U.S. college or university. Graduate applicants can be either currently enrolled in a U.S. university or awaiting notification of admission. Deadline is December 3, 2019. San Diego Zoo Summer Student Fellowships

The Institute for Conservation Research at the San Diego Zoo offers undergraduate summer student fellowships in each research team: Recovery Ecology, Population Sustainability, Community Engagement, Global Partnerships, Conservation Genetics, Plant Conservation, Reproductive Sciences, and Disease Investigations.  The program is only open to currently enrolled undergraduate students continuing their undergraduate or graduate studies the following fall. The current stipend amount is $7,000 for the 12-week program.
