NSF I-Corps Information Sessions
Has your work led to an innovative idea that might have a practical application? Could it be developed into a product or service that might have a positive regional or global impact? Come to I-Corps @ ECU!
Inventors and aspiring innovators enrolled in the I-Corps program will receive expert mentoring as they explore critical elements to assess the practical utility of their idea. While all persons affiliated with ECU may attend, we especially encourage faculty and staff with innovative ideas to take part. Teams with STEM-related projects are eligible for up to $3,000 to support travel to meet with experts, attend conferences and perform interviews, or develop a prototype to demonstrate proof-of-concept. Upon completion of the I-Corps @ ECU program, teams with STEM-related projects may also apply for the National I-Corps grant program, which can award up to $50,000 in additional funding for customer discovery and prototyping.
This program focuses on helping you discover the best use for your innovation. I-Corps will motivate you and/or your team members to perform interviews with multiple experts and potential users of your innovation so you can focus your efforts on further developing your research or idea in ways that are most needed or impactful. This is also a great opportunity for a student or postdoc working under you to talk to multiple experts and potential employers in their field, as well as gather important information that will help them prepare for a career in either science or technology entrepreneurship.
