Seeking Undergraduate Students for Research Project on Measuring Vaping/Electronic Cigarette Use Inside Vehicles

Position Description:
Dr. Sinan Sousan in the Department of Public Health is seeking 2 students in the Honor’s College to assist with a research study funded by the National Institutes of Health examining vaping/electronic cigarette use inside vehicles. Tasks will include operating aerosol and gas sensors to measure secondhand vaping inside cars occupied by participants. Students will learn how to prepare the sensors, perform filter analysis, install and remove the sensors from the vehicles, download and organize the data, and perform data analysis and show results.
Work Schedule:
This project will take place in Fall 2021 through Spring 2022. Students will be expected to work approximately 15-20 hours per week in fulfillment of Honor’s Research Project requirements. Students may complete 3 credit hours in Fall 2021 and 3 credit hours in Spring 2022 pending reappointment by the Principal Investigator based on evaluation of the student’s performance. Students may be eligible to receive payment. Specific payment and hours of work to be agreed upon by the Principal Investigator and the student.
Work Location:
Aerosol Research Laboratory in the Carol Belk Building, Department of Health Education and Promotion.
