2022 Little League World Series Softball Internship Opportunities
Greenville Little League and the Little League Softball World Series are seeking qualified interns to assist us in all aspects of daily operations associated with Greenville Little League baseball league, various district and state Little League Baseball Tournaments, and the 2022 Little League Softball World Series held at Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park. Interns will gain experience in a variety of skills, including Tournament Operations, Facility Management, Event Planning, Marketing and Social Media, Community Relations, and Volunteer Management. This internship is ideal for students who wish to gain a wide array of hands-on experience working in local youth baseball and multiple large events. Students seeking this internship should be highly motivated and flexible to perform a variety of tasks.
Interns are sought for 2-week, 6-week and 12-week positions.
Location: Greenville, NC
Dates:
- Two-Week: August 2022
- Six-Week: First or second week of July through mid-August
- Twelve-Week: June through mid-August (start date flexible)
Hours:
- Two-Week: During the event, up to four games will be played per day and volunteer staff will work significant hours.
- Six-Week: Flexible hours; be prepared to work mainly nights and weekends. Interns will be expected to work ALL scheduled tournament events.

Pay: This internship is unpaid. Some free meals may be provided during tournaments.
Duties: Below are examples of the types of experiences you may gain while working as an intern.
Tournament Operations
● Assist with tournament preparations for local, state, and international tournaments.
● Assist with recordkeeping and pressbox operation
Facility Management
● Assist with field preparation and cleanup
● Assist with ensuring cleanliness of facility
● Set up and breakdown concessions and souvenirs
Event Planning
● Assist with recruiting volunteers and sponsors.
● Organizing shipments and inventory as they arrive
● Assist with development of programs, and preparatory materials for teams.
Marketing and Social Media (students with experience or aptitude in this area may be given the opportunity to expand their responsibilities beyond listed duties)
● Assist in developing and implementing in-game promotions.
● Assist with taking photos and producing content for tournament social media.
● Assist with Adobe Suite if able (There may be opportunities to learn basic Adobe skills if desired)
● Assist with scheduling social media posts on Hootsuite.
Community Relations
● Assist in advertising events to the local community.
● Welcome visiting fans to Greenville and assist with needs.
● Conduct themselves in a hospitable manner throughout events.
Volunteer Management
● May supervise high school volunteers during events as they perform tasks.
Other Duties as Assigned
Please note that we operate in an “all hands-on deck” type of environment. Everyone, from tournament director to high school volunteer will at some point pick up trash or have undesirable duties during the summer. Our staff is composed of volunteers who work extremely hard. The expectation is that interns will also perform these types of tasks as needed.
About Greenville Little League
Greenville Little League consists of Greenville’s North State & Tar Heel. Little League Baseball is a long-standing tradition in Greenville. North State Little League began play in 1951 while the Tar Heel Little League began playing three years later in 1954.
Greenville Little League currently has 16 major league teams (9-12 year olds). Eight of these teams play in the North State League and eight of the teams play in the Tar Heel League. Each team plays a 22 game regular season beginning in April and a postseason tournament which culminates with the City Championship played at the end of June. There is also a Minor League which began play in 1989 for children who do not make a Major League team.
About the Little League Softball World Series
In 2021, the Little League Softball World Series was held at Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park in Greenville, NC for the first time. The event was a huge success, and we hope to continue to build on that success for years to come. In 2022, girls from around the world will come not only to compete against one another, but create life-long friendships, and lasting memories. In addition to every U.S. Little League Softball Regional, each world Series game will be broadcast on the ESPN Family of Networks, providing millions of fans around the world the ability to watch and cheer for their favorite team!
Every year, there are more than 24,000 teams playing Little League Softball. At tournament time, teams from around the world battle through District, Section, State and Region, but only 12 (8 US, 4 International) teams will earn the right to travel to the Softball World Series, to represent their region, and to play against the best to see who will be crowned the Little League Softball World Series Champion.
