Sport Management Industry – Professional Development Programs

Australia: August 1 – 15, 2022  ($3,340.00)

Ireland: August 2 – 13, 2022  ($2,980.00)

Sports Travel Academy is offering summer programs to Ireland & Australia that are available to graduate and undergraduate students interested in a career in the Sport Industry. These programs are not affiliated with any university and students will not receive academic credit for participating, however they will be led by experienced faculty and the learning objectives will be identical to our traditional study abroad programs. This is an excellent opportunity for many students who missed international travel opportunities due to the pandemic.

As a result of participation in this program students will have the opportunity to study the Irish or Australian model of sport and learn from local Sport Management professors as well as industry professionals at amateur and professional sporting clubs, government sporting bodies, facilities and arenas and other sport related businesses. Students will develop a thorough understanding of the club system and be able to compare and contrast how sport is delivered to the community in the US vs. Ireland or Australia. They will gain an appreciation for the cultural importance of sport in society from a social, political, cultural, and, particularly in Ireland, also a religious context. Students in Ireland will learn about Gaelic culture and its influence on sport/Western World, and students in Australia will learn about the indigenous people of Australia and the influence of sport on indigenous culture.
