ECU WaterCorps is hiring!
The Water Resources Center is still looking to hire ECU undergraduate students from all majors to the WaterCorps this summer!
Full-time (40hrs/week) and part-time summer positions are available at a competitive pay rate, so you can earn while you learn!
To apply to the WaterCorps go to East Carolina University Portal | Self-Help – Water Corps (peopleadmin.com)
For more information visit the WATERCORPS Webpage
The ECU WaterCorps works to support the needs of community clients, much like a consulting organization.
Core services provided to clients by the WaterCorps organization include:
- environmental monitoring and sampling
- laboratory analysis of water quality
- mapping and GIS methods
- science communication, digital media, and social media campaigns
- support for science education and outreach programs
- basic research services
- plus more as client needs grow!
While technical experience or professional interest in one or more of these areas is helpful, WaterCorps works as a team where you can learn new skills as you work. Additionally, WaterCorps members are expected to develop and practice skills that are highly valued by employers, such as leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, mentorship, and project management. Learning to contribute to a team by contributing your individual strengths will help you to prepare for real-world collaborative work environments.
In addition to ECU researchers, examples of clients that the WaterCorps may be supporting this summer include:
- Arora Fossil Museum
- Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership
- Sound Rivers
- Greenville Utilities Commission
- Sylvan Heights Bird Park
- In-Situ Inc.
- NC Department of Environmental Quality
- NC Coastlines and People Environmental Justice Programs
